Afghanistan, Cuba
And Iran Respond To America's Plea For Help
Vernon Coleman
The sight of aggressive, imperialistic, oil-grabbing America
begging for help from countries around the world is one of the most nauseating
and hypocritical sights of modern times.
The Americans, let us not
forget, constantly boast that they are the richest and most powerful nation on
earth. Now they are pleading for the rest of the world to help them deal with
the consequences of Hurricane Katrina. (A hurricane which possibly wouldn't have
happened if it hadn't been for America's selfish refusal to ratify the Kyoto
Treaty.)
Can it be because the American Government doesn't have the money
or the equipment? Hardly. Or could it be because Bush and his nasty cronies
don't want to use their money or equipment to help save poor Americans? Could it
be that they want the rest of the world to do that for them?
We all feel
desperately sorry for the plight of the poor people in New Orleans, and
neighbouring parts of the USA, who have been abandoned by their Government and
left to drown or starve to death.
And all around the world people who
themselves live in appalling conditions are responding to the desperate pleas
from the Americans who now need help.
While Bush and his cronies are too
busy dropping bombs on other countries to care about what happens in their own
country, and while Bush leaves the world open-mouthed in disbelief as he
announces that he will head an investigation into his handling of the crisis,
Christians and Muslims around the world are showing America the real meaning of
compassion.
Here's a small list of countries which have already helped
the poor American blacks who have been abandoned by their own
Government:
1. Cuba
Long considered by America to be an enemy,
Cuba has offered to fly 1,100 doctors and 26 tonnes of medical supplies to help
victims in the USA.
2. Iran
It is well known that Iran is next on
Bush's bombing list. But the Iranians have offered to send help to the American
people their own Government has apparently disowned.
3. China
The
Americans are conducting a vicious trade war with China. But the Chinese have
offered £3 million, doctors and rescue workers.
4. France
The
Americans still sneer at the French for refusing to take part in the illegal
invasion of Iraq. But the French have offered help and will send rescue teams to
help America.
5. Afghanistan
The people of Afghanistan are sending
£70,000 to America - to help it clean up its mess. This is the same Afghanistan
which America is still bombing. The people of Aghanistan are living in terrible
poverty because of America. Many innocent Afghans are still being killed by
brutal American bombing raids. And yet the Afghans are helping America.
6.
Britain
British taxpayers are sending 500,000 emergency rations to help
feed the Americans.
7. Venezuela
To say that America doesn't get on
with Venezuela is an understatement. But the Venezuelan President has shown
George W. Bush the meaning of dignity and compassion by offering to send cheap
fuel, aid and relief workers to the USA.
8. Sri Lanka
Still
recovering from the tsunami, the people of Sri Lanka are sending money to help
America.
9. Russia
The Russians have offered to send transport
planes, helicopters and generators to help out America (which has most of its
planes, helicopters and generators involved in its own various wars).
10.
Mexico
One of the world's poor nations is sending water, food and medical
supplies. The Mexican navy has offered two ships, two helicopters and 15
amphibious vehicles. (I can't help thinking that that probably IS the Mexican
navy.)
Numerous other countries around the world have responded to the
Americans' plea for help.
Japan has offered £300,000 and emergency
supplies. Qatar has pledged an astonishing £55 million. Singapore has sent
helicopters. And Israel is sending some bureaucrats to help coordinate
things.
Will America ever again dare to boast that it is the world's only
superpower? Will any American ever again dare to boast that theirs is the
richest and most powerful country on earth? Will Americans be able to hold up
their heads if their nation continues with its illegal wars around the
world?
