How America Has
Screwed The World
Vernon Coleman
In America, senior
war criminal George W.Bush has been accused of the political vetting of
scientific advisors and of attempting to muzzle leading climate researchers. The
American Government has, for example, denied media access to researchers with
the `wrong views'. American scientists are not allowed to contradict their
government's position on global warming (or indeed on anything else). For
example, in February 2007 the American federal agency allegedly responsible for
protecting polar bears banned two Alaska scientists from speaking about polar
bears, climate change or sea ice at international meetings. The restrictions
make these three subjects `off limits' for all scientists who have not received
official approval to speak on these topics.
In George Orwell's novel
`1984' people were prevented from discussing all issues prohibited by the
Ministry of Truth. Opponents of the truth about global warming have admitted
that `doubt is our product' and that their aim is to promote `theory not fact'.
(This is the way the Nazis managed information. It's the way vivisectors work
too.)
It is, perhaps, hardly surprising that 13% of the American
population have never heard of global warming and the USA ranks last of 46
nations in its concern for climate change. America is the worst contributor to
the root causes of global warming and yet is the least concerned. America leads
the world in the production of cool ipod accessories and in methods of killing
and torturing people but only 13% of American Congressional Republicans believe
that global warming is caused by humans. Not surprisingly perhaps, America is
now planning to build 150 coal plants - the world's dirtiest fuel. With amazing
cheek the Americans are now blaming China for global warming. However, American
car companies cannot sell cars in China because American cars don't comply with
China's environmental requirements.
Chinese officials say (not entirely
unreasonably) that rich industrialised nations (specifically the USA) must take
the lead in cutting greenhouse gases since they bear the `unshirkable
responsibility' for causing global warming. China is resisting taking action on
climate change that might affect its economic development. The Chinese view is
that `...the climate change has been caused by the long-term historic emissions
of developed countries and their high per-capita emissions.' Difficult to argue
with them.
America is responsible for most global warming. America should
take the lead. America won't.
The world is screwed.
