An American Has Already Decided Who Will Win The 2005 British Election (He's Picked The Party Which Will Do Most For His Business)

Vernon Coleman

Rupert Murdoch, once an Australian and now an American, has already decided who is going to win the British election on May 5th.

He's done it before and he'll do it again.

I have always believed that Blair's first win in 1997 was bought by New Labour. I believe they offered media bosses all sorts of deals to make sure that their party was supported.

For example, in 1997 one newspaper editor told me that the support of the papers in his group (it was not News International) had been `bought' with the promise that there would be no investigation of a proposed purchase of another media company - a purchase which might otherwise have been blocked.

But for the 2005 election, Blair hasn't had to offer anything. (A good job really. He doesn't have much to offer.)

Rupert Murdoch, who controls The Sun, the News of the World, The Times, the Sunday Times and Sky Television will support Blair and New Labour for simple business reasons.

Murdoch makes money by selling newspapers and acquiring subscribers to his TV channels. He desperately needs more potential customers.

Blair's open door immigration policy might not be popular with voters but it's just what Murdoch wants.

Under New Labour between 300,000 and 500,000 people are pouring into Britain every year. That's a lot of potential customers for The Sun and for Sky television.

The Tories, anxious to win votes among citizens who are frightened by the way this dramatic influx of newcomers is threatening the nation's infrastructure, are talking about controlling immigration and reducing the numbers of new citizens.

That won't suit Murdoch at all.

Michael Howard and the Tories may well win some votes this way.

But the Murdoch papers will, as always, manage the way the news appears and Blair will benefit.

You won't read this hypothesis in any British newspaper, of course. Our pathetic press wouldn't dare print it.

But just keep an eye on the Murdoch papers.

I predict that they will support Blair.

And Blair will duly win.

P.S. The BBC will support Blair because New Labour is the most pro EU party. The Tories are talking about rejecting the new EU constitution and even pulling out of the EU. The EU will naturally support Blair. And so the Blair Broadcasting Corporation (tied to the EU's apron strings) will support the loathsome war criminal Blair.
