AROMATHERAPY
History
Aromatherapists claim that by massaging their patients with sweet-smelling oils they can treat an enormous range of physical and mental disorders. They say that by choosing scented oils from specific flowers, plants and trees they can influence moods and emotions and treat diseases.
Aromatherapy is a very traditional form of healing.
Diagnosis
Different aromatherapists use different diagnostic techniques. Some seem to rely partly on intuition and conversation with their patients.
Treatment
The aromatherapist concentrates on massaging the patient’s back and face. A course of treatment may last for ten sessions.
Dangers
A patient may be allergic to one or more of the oils used for massage. If oils are absorbed through the skin then the range of possible side effects is vast.
Uses
Aromatherapy is advocated by practitioners for a wide range of conditions.
