Blair's Northern
Ireland Hoax
Vernon Coleman
The latest and much
publicised new peace in Northern Ireland, and the restoration of the Northern
Ireland Assembly, were ruthlessly (and painfully obviously) designed to be
Blair's glorious legacy.
(As a preferred alternative to Blair's real
legacy: the illegal invasion of and continued wars against Iraq and Afghanistan,
the betrayal of Britain, the destroying of public services and the creation of a
fascist nation.)
The Northern Ireland Assembly is, of course, simply a
piece of essential European Union housekeeping.
Northern Ireland is a
region of the EU and must have its own Assembly - just as Scotland and Wales
have their own Assemblies and just as England has nine of them already quietly
whirring away in the background.
I suspect that the nauseating Blair
would spin his own grandmother in her grave if he thought he could get good
publicity out of it.
