Five Things 12-Year-Olds Should Really Be Worrying About
The stupid, the ignorant and the ill-informed are still making a fuss about climate change. To hear them talk we are living in a desert with sand everywhere and temperature rarely falling below 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
They make two big mistakes.
First, they think that the planet is getting hotter. The scientific evidence for this is about as convincing as the scientific evidence showing that eating up your crusts will make your hair go curly. In other words, it is non-existent.
Second, they think that it is manís fault that the planet is getting hotter. The scientific evidence for this is about as convincing as the scientific evidence showing that the BBC is an unbiased broadcaster. In other words that is non-existent too.
There are, however, lots of things that the stupid, the ignorant and the ill-informed eco-terrorists should be worrying about.
First, they should worry about the fact that the planetís water is running out. We are using fresh water at such a rate that it will soon run out.
Second, our atmosphere is being polluted with carcinogens. People who live in or near cities are breathing poisoned air. And for the record, electric cars are a bigger source of pollution than diesel and petrol driven vehicles. (Where the hell do people think the electricity comes from? Most of our electricity comes from diesel, gas and coal.)
Third, our food, particularly meat, is contaminated with carcinogens. That is why the incidence of cancer is rising.
Fourth, infections are becoming commoner and the antibiotics we have available are often useless because they have been overused by doctors and farmers. And drug companies arenít spending much effort on looking for new antibiotics because there is far more profit to be made out of making useless and unnecessary drugs for chronic diseases.
Fifth, the oil is running out. It really is. And, thanks to the eco-terrorists, the big oil companies have pretty well given up looking for any more.
So, if you are 12-years-old and worried about climate change you are, Iím afraid, worrying about the wrong things.
But thatís probably because you listen to the BBC and donít read this website.
