Do Doctors And Nurses Kill More People Than Cancer?

Vernon Coleman's latest book on medicine is the most powerful and shocking indictment of doctors and nurses ever published.

The evidence shows that along with cancer and circulatory disease, doctors and nurses are now one of our top three killers; they kill far more people than infections (including the flu), road accidents, terrorists, and criminals put together. Every week doctors kill more people than terrorists have killed in the last 50 years. The result is that doctors and nurses now almost certainly kill more people than cancer.

Do Doctors And Nurses Kill More People Than Cancer? is a comprehensive and honest analysis of modern health care; showing precisely how and why patients are routinely cheated, endangered and killed. A well-intentioned social experiment has been smothered by bureaucracy and today State run health care kills more people than it saves. The health service exists not to care for patients but to provide secure, unchallenging employment for its staff. If the money spent on health care were distributed to citizens to spend themselves, the quality of care received would soar. And we would save a fortune. The shambling, disorganised, corrupt health system we have is a marriage between consumer and State which long ago fell apart; destroyed by the trusting naivety of the one partner and the reckless, short-sighted greed of the other. Doctors and nurses have (like long-stay patients) become institutionalised. They accept everything and question nothing. Arrogant, indifferent and uncaring they have sold their souls to the State.

Our health care system is a failure because it is distorted by regulations, targets and legislation. Patients are regarded by bureaucrats, doctors and nurses as at best an inconvenience and at worst a nuisance. We have more sophisticated medical equipment than at any time in history and we spend more on medicine than ever before but we are unhealthier than we have ever been.

State-run health care consists of layers of administration dedicated to deceit and institutionalised deception. Everything in medicine is now about money. The system exists not to protect patients but to protect itself. Politicians protect the status quo because they dare not destroy it. Doctors and nurses protect it because it makes many of them exceedingly rich. The health system is run by people who never question their competence and so do not recognise their shortcomings.

In future we must use doctors as technicians - there to advise and provide technical support. We must learn how and when to make the big decisions ourselves. It is the purpose of this book to encourage a medical revolution by encouraging readers to become knowledgeable, independent health care consumers.
