Britain’s Roads are a Mess
Vernon Coleman
It has been obvious to motorists for years that Highways England is making a complete mess of our roads – and making things worse rather than better.
The new road schemes kill more people, damage the environment and destroy productivity. Long pointless queues develop because of silly speed limits. Motorways are dug up to erect stupid EU approved central barriers. And everyone knows the average speed cameras are there to make money not to make roads safer.
All this nonsense is energy sapping, makes driving tiring and increases accidents.
And now the Highways England people themselves have concluded that their daft schemes have cost a fortune but have not cut journey times.
Don’t suppose there is a chance of anyone being sacked?
Resigning in shame?
Thought not.
