Cook Islands Have an Existential Crisis

So, the Cook Islands have decided to rename themselves. Atlases everywhere will be out of date. Apparently, the islands have decided that they no longer want to be associated with Captain Cook. What ungrateful bastards the islands are. Don’t they realise that without Captain Cook they would probably still be undiscovered? They would be lost in mapmakers’ limbo; an unseen speck on our history.
Well, I’ve decided that from now on Cook Islands no longer exist.
They can go back to the obscurity they enjoyed before Captain Cook tottered by.
Cook Islands?
Never heard of ‘em.
No such place.
