Meat and Diabetes
Vernon Coleman
In mid June 2013, headlines around the world announced the discovery of a link between eating red meat and developing diabetes mellitus. This was reported as `news’.
However, I am delighted to say that my readers have known about this link since 1995 . Unfortunately, the meat industry is a powerful lobby and the truth has been well hidden for a long time.
Diabetes is not the only major disease linked to the eating of meat. In my book Food for Thought, first published in 1995, I listed diseases known to be associated with eating meat. Here is that list:
Anaemia
Appendicitis
Arthritis
Breast cancer
Colon cancer
Constipation
Diabetes
Gallstones
Heart disease
High blood pressure
Indigestion
Obesity
Piles
Prostate cancer
Strokes
Varicose veins
Will it be another 18 years before the world accepts the fact that these diseases are also all linked to the eating of meat? How many millions will fall ill, and die, as a result?
