Does Bliar Really Care About Global Warming?

Vernon Coleman

Tony Bliar, Britain's leading war criminal, now claims that he is concerned about the effect global warming will have on the planet. His Government seems likely to introduce a whole pile of new taxes as a result of his having allegedly `seen the light'.

But does Bliar really care? Or is he just pretending to care so that he has an excuse to introduce a mass of new taxes? (The money is needed to pay fat salaries and inflation proofed pensions for millions of Government employees - including MPs and Ministers).

Here's the evidence supporting my view that Bliar is, once again, a lying and contemptible hypocrite:

1. If Bliar really cared about global warming he would have put pressure on his chum George `the bomber' Bush to sign the Kyoto Protocol.

2. If Bliar really cared about global warming (and the planet) he wouldn't have started a rash of wars so that his new pals in the USA could steal the oil. (Just think of the damage done to the environment by all those bombing raids.)

3. If Bliar really cared about global warming he would have subsidised school bus fares so that parents wouldn't be tempted to take their children to school in their own cars.

4. If Bliar really cared about global warming he would not constantly fly off to holidays abroad - when he could go by train.

5. If Bliar really cared about global warming he would improve the efficiency of train services in Britain - and subsidise prices. He would also stop internal flights. Britain is not big enough for people to need to fly from Birmingham to London.

6. If Bliar really cared about global warming he would have kept rural post offices open. The number of village post offices has crashed since Bliar came into office. Untold thousands now have to drive miles to buy a stamp or a loaf of bread.

7. If Bliar really cared about global warming he would force contractors to keep road works to a minimum. Road works lead to traffic jams and wasted fuel.

8. If Bliar really cared about global warming he would not allow the police to use unrealistically low speed limits on motorways in an attempt to make money out of speed cameras. Every time traffic crawls along at 40 mph the income from speeding fines rockets - and the consumption of petrol rockets too.

9. If Bliar really cared about global warming he would provide more support for British seaside resorts - and not allow councils to put seaside hotels out of business with absurdly high business rates and unreasonable health and safety demands. As British hotels go bust so more and more holidaymakers have to fly to Spain.

10. If Bliar really cared about global warming he would encourage a sensible recycling programme. Collecting old newspapers doesn't help at all. (This sort of recycling just helps councils cut their costs.) But encouraging the recycling of old cars and old equipment (and abandoning absurd regulations) would help.

11. If Bliar really cared about global warming he would reduce the amount of red tape stifling British business - and thereby increase efficiency.

12. If Bliar really cared about global warming he would resign and leave Britain. His lies and hypocrisy have damaged serious political debate in the country and made it impossible for serious subjects such as a global warming be to discussed openly and honestly.
